, part of the PATA Gold Environment Award-winning Six Senses Resorts & Spas Group, was developed in the shell of an existing building providing an excellent example of sustainability in design. Through innovation and trendsetting the Evason Phuket is hoping to positively influence the South-East Asia region in driving environmentally sustainable operations.

Green Globe Company programme
helped them to assess the environmental impact of their operation and improve their performance. Their efforts come from the Six Senses corporate head office, which has a Holistic Environmental Management Programme and Social and Environmental Responsibility Fund.
Evason Phuket and Six Senses Spa’s biggest environmental challenges are the education of tourists, the reduction of the Resort’s carbon footprint through increased energy efficiency, and the management of water resources.
Located on Rawai Beach on southern Phuket Island, the Evason Phuket is set amongst acres of beautifully landscaped tropical gardens facing the Andaman Sea. Evason Phuket wants to maintain the pristine natural beauty of the area for visitors to enjoy, and so has introduced a number of initiatives, with the help of the

, to ensure the area is maintained for future generations.
Some of these initiatives include the creation of a water waste action plan using Green Globe’s guidelines. Through this the Resort has been able to reduce its water output, which has saved the Resort thousands of dollars. The introduction of a programme which produces the Resort’s own drinking water, with re-useable water bottles for hosts and guests has also ensured that they have reduced their solid waste and increase their recycling commitments.
Evason Phuket & Six Senses Spa has also found a steady increase in their visitor numbers due to the increased ability the Green Globe programme has offered them to promote their environmental dedication. The Resort is a regular recipient of environmental accolades, and is well known throughout South-East Asia for its innovative environmental work- a unique selling point in today’s market.
The Evason Phuket & Six Senses Spa hopes the success its Resort has achieved through its environmental responsibility will encourage other Resorts in South-East Asia and throughout the world to follow their example, making the challenge of sustainability something the tourism industry can resolve collectively through stronger information sharing and cooperation.
