What is an Earthcheck Benchmarking Assessment & Report?
An Earthcheck Benchmarking Assessment is an analysis of your operation’s performance
using your supplied data on Energy, Water, Waste and other sector specific indicators,
and comparing this against established Baseline and Best Practice levels of performance
relative to your sector and region.
An Earthcheck Benchmarking Assessment Report provides you with a visual analysis
of your organisation’s performance, and includes recommendations where necessary
to encourage improvement.

What are Earthcheck Core Areas and their indicators?
An Earthcheck Core Area is an environmental, social or economic area for which indicators
have been developed to identify an organisation’s performance. Indicators are important
because they highlight the performance of an operation and they identify where improvements
need to be made.
Core areas can have one indicator or several indicators, depending on what can be
measured and identified. For example, the core area, ‘Water’, has two indicators,
‘Water Consumption’ and ‘Water Saving’.

How do I submit my benchmarking data?
Benchmarking data is submitted online using the Earthcheck Benchmarking software.
We would recommend that you keep a spreadsheet that you can add to daily or monthly
that keeps track of your benchmarking data over the 12 month data collection period.
For example, your Energy usage could be entered into the spreadsheet directly from
your bills as you receive them. This will assist you with entering your data for
Energy Consumption at the end of the data collection period.

What is a Benchmarking Assessment & Report?
Benchmarking is a straightforward process that provides practical feedback on relative
performance and demonstrates to stakeholders a responsible commitment to high standards.
Benchmarking involves measuring performance against sector specific indicators that
reflect the organisation’s performance in the Green Globe Key Performance Areas.
It requires the collection and submission of everyday information including energy
and water consumption and waste production.
The Benchmarking Assessment is based upon the organisation’s performance in relation
to sector and region specific Baseline and Best Practice levels. Baseline is considered
an above average standard of performance that should be attained or bettered as
part of day-to-day business activity. Best Practice is a reflection of good performance
that can be attained with careful implementation of practices and equipment.
The Benchmarking Report illustrates the results of the Benchmarking Assessment of
the participant's operation through graphs which compare Baseline and Best
Practice levels. Recommendations are also provided to ensure that improvements are
made in areas which may require attention or can be improved upon.
