What is the mission of the Green Globe programme?
Green Globe aims to deliver the best travel and tourism benchmarking and certification
products and services in the world, which facilitate sustainable travel and tourism
for companies, communities, ecotourism operations and precincts.

Can I enter the programme at any level?
An organisation can commence their Green Globe journey at either Benchmarked Bronze or Certification Silver
level.
1. Bronze - The Bronze level is for organisations that wish to familiarise themselves
and work through the Green Globe Benchmarking process before committing to full
certification.
2. Silver - Organisations that are committed to achieving full Certification can
enter the programme at the Silver level. Registration at this level will enable
organisations to work through the Benchmarking process and prepare for full certification.

What are the Green Globe Standards?
The Green Globe Standards address the major environmental issues that face our planet
today. They set out the criteria for Certification and provide an environmental
management framework for companies and communities. A Standard has also
been developed to assist planners to integrate sustainable design principles within
precinct developments.
Broadly speaking, the Green Globe Standards focus on performance outcomes in the
following key areas:
- Greenhouse gas emissions
- Energy efficiency, conservation and management
- Management of freshwater resources
- Ecosystem conservation and management
- Management of social and cultural issues
- Land use planning and management
- Air quality protection and noise control
- Waste water management
- Solid waste management
- Storage of environmentally harmful substances
The Green Globe Standards are:
Green Globe Company Standard
The Green Globe Company Standard is for travel and tourism companies in most sectors
of the travel and tourism industry.
Green Globe Community Standard
The Green Globe Community Standard is applicable to communities and tourism destinations.
Green Globe Precinct Planning & Design Standard
The Green Globe Precinct Planning and Design Standard has been created for Developers
to check and measure the outcomes of planning and design.
