The National Industry Working Group Party
An Australia-wide Industry Working Group, which includes representatives from throughout
the tourism industry, has recently been established in an effort to join forces
and develop a national framework for collaborative regional data collection, with
IPAT's technology and reporting function as its basis. The key objective is to ensure
that once the data has been collected it will be relevant and consistent, meeting
the needs of all regions and business sectors.
The group will work towards developing a set of strategies which address the short,
medium and long term development plans for IPAT.
The group comprises tourism industry representatives from Tourism Tasmania, Tourism
Tropical North Queensland, Tourism Sunshine Coast and the South Australian Tourist
Commission. The group is chaired by Mr Daniel Gschwind, Chief Executive Officer
of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council and board member of the National Tourism
Alliance.
Tourism Sunshine Coast representative Mr Ren Van Tulder said “he welcomed the formation
of the group and the fact that the industry had been given the opportunity to help
plan the future strategic direction of IPAT. We are the people at the coal face
and certainly have our operators and regions best interests at heart so we are in
a good position to know what the industry values and needs”.
