Committing to a sustainable future should be the goal of every organisation, community, and business.
A National Landscape emerges from the Wilderness
Australia's Coastal Wilderness (ACW) is a region located in the South-Eastern corner of Australia covering sections of both southern New South Wales and East Gippsland in Victoria. The region is host to a rare un-spoilt wilderness coast line, a rich diversity of flora and fauna and includes a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. In June 2008, the ACW region was announced by Tourism Australia as one of eight regions to be included in the National Landscapes program. The National Landscapes program aims to identify, conserve and promote landscapes that offer distinctive Australian natural and cultural experiences.
As part of the process to manage, preserve and promote this exceptional landscape the Steering Committee have appointed EC3 Global to prepare a Tourism Master Plan.
The Tourism Master Plan is not a Regional Tourism Strategy but a focused Plan to target a specific market and identify the projects and enablers (including Strategic Marketing recommendations) that are possible in the short (1-3 years) and medium (3-5 years) timeframe. The Tourism Master Plan will take into account 'sustainability' of projects but will not assess the financial feasibility of proposed projects. The Tourism Master Plan will identify iconic world-class experiences matching the target market within specified precincts or corridors including:
- Visitor facilities, services and information
- Infrastructure
- Product development (including product linkages); and
- Strategic Marketing Recommendations
Due for completion in June, the Master plan involves significant local community and stakeholder consultation.
“Despite the long recognized importance of nature based tourism to the national economy there has never been an integrated planning approach to the delivery of our world class tourism experiences” Bruce Leaver, First Assistant Secretary, Parks Australia.
